LOKOJA- Kogi state Commissioner for works and Housing, Engineer Abubakar Ohere has charged Nigerians to look beyond sentiments in choosing the next president for the country.
He said, the hitherto considerations for the election of President which was based on regions , ethnicity and religions have not been able to offer purposeful leadership to the people stressing that age, courage and antecedents of managerial acumen should be the yardsticks in determining who governs the country.
Engineer Ohere gave the charge On Monday while speaking with Journalists in Lokoja on the need for well meaning Nigerians to avoid parochial consideration in supporting the would be President that will take the country out of its present predicaments.
He suggested that the Governor of Kogi State, Alhaji Yahaya Bello who is neither from the three major tribes and was not born with a silver spoon, but was able to change socio economic and security narratives in his five years on the saddle of the state, should be the best option.
According to Engr. Ohere, “Gov. Bello is not a Hausa Man, neither is he an Ibo or Yoruba Man, but he has what it takes to provide leadership, a criteria that should be the focus.”
“Gov. Bello has youthful age on his side, and with his political will in taking critical decisions , should be supported to lead the country at this time of our national challenges.”
“What the nation needs now is a courageous leader in the mould of Gov. Bello who is not inclined to class, ethnic or religious bigotry which are the hallmarks of Governor Bello”, he solicited.
