Crime: Katsina Police arrest 2 for Rape, 9 others for various nefarious activities
Police in Katsina State says they have arrested 2 ex-convicts for impersonation and rape offences.
Police spokesman, Superintendent Gambo Isah, while parading the suspects said, 9 others were arrested for various crimes, including, banditry, informants, and motorcycle thieves, among others.
One of the suspected impersonators, 32-year-old Shamsu Sani, is an ex-convict, who has served a prison term of 2 years.
According to Isah, Sani was arrested with an Inspector rank police uniform, which he used to commit a crime some years back, which led to his imprisonment.
This time, he is being arrested with a Nigeria Correctional Service uniform, which he uses to scam unsuspecting members of the public.
Speaking on where he gets the security uniforms, Sani said they were from a friend, but after several questions, he confessed to having contracted tailors to make them for him.
For the second nabbed 51-year-old ex-convict, Aminu Isiyaku, the Police Public Relations Officer, described him as a habitual and serial rapist, who has been paraded by the command severally and served prison terms in the past.
Isah said the suspect was arrested after a joint complaint against him by the parents of 2 girls, aged 13 and 15, in Daura.
According to Isiyaku, he attributed his involvement to the handiwork of the devil, and said, he lured the girls with 50 and 100 Naira, before having his way with them in a school building, on 3 different occasions.
He however promised that, if the police tempers justice with mercy, it will be the last time he would commit the crime.
Other arrests included another 30-year-old serial rapist, Habibu Haladu, who defiled a minor who was rearing domestic animals behind their house, 2 bandits’ informants, as well as 10 suspected motorcycle thieves, and the recovery of 11 motorcycles.
