#ENDSARSNOW: Adebutu Identifies With The Nigerian Youth

Hon. (Dr.) Oladipupo Adebutu has said he identifies with the Nigerian youths and shares in their pains as contained in a statement issued on Tuesday, 13th October, 2020 by his Media Consultant, Afolabi Orekoya on the nationwide protest by the youths tagged “ENDSARSNOW”.

Adebutu said “No nation will ever flow backwards while there are still youths in the world. The recent uproar in Nigeria to curb and invariably end the operations of the police SARS, #ENDSARSNOW#, affirms this belief that the Nigerian youths are definitely the engine of growth and development”.

“I share in the grief and agony of all Nigerian youths and as such condemns, in its entirety, the brutality of the youths and innocent citizens of our dear nation”.

Adebutu consequently urged the APC led government to listen to the plight of these youths and show human feelings in the formation of policies and reformation of the Police force. He condemned the attack on the youths over their peaceful protest across the country.

The statement also reminded the government that those who make peaceful revolution impossible, make violent revolution inevitable and that the killings of innocent citizens of the country will never bring any reasonable solution to issue.

While encouraging the youths to always be peaceful in their plights and protests, Adebutu advised that the protest should not be allowed to degenerate into a political or economic protest that can lead to breakdown of law and order.

Adebutu also condoled with the families of the those who lost their lives to the brutality and gunshots by the police since the beginning of this protest saying it is disheartening and shocking to hear that peaceful protests was confronted with gunshots by the police who should protect lives.

He condemned in entirety the negligence and insensitivity of the APC Government to have watched the situation degenerating under its nose to the extent that lives of innocent citizens were lost.
