PDP defends Zamfara Deputy Governor who refused to defect to APC
The Peoples Democratic Party, PDP has called on banks and other financial institutions in Zamfara State, North-West Nigeria to be wary of what it describes as unapproved financial transactions by the Governor of the State, Bello Matawalle.
This follows alleged moves by the incumbent Governor to sweep the coffers of the State.
In a statement by the PDP National Publicity Secretary, Kola Ologbodiyan, the party insists its position is predicated on the alleged attempt to undermine the statutory powers of the Deputy Governor of Zamfara State, Aliyu Gusau following the decision of the Governor to defect to the All Progressives Congress, APC.
The PDP citing Section 221 of the 1999 Constitution as amended as well as the judgement of the Supreme Court in Falake vs INEC 2016, the party further notes that the mandate of the party is no way transferable to the APC and the police including all other security agencies in the State are placed on notice.
