Workers’ Day: Organised Labour in Ekiti lament inflation effect on minimum wage

Labour leaders in Ekiti state have lamented the effect of inflation on the minimum wage of N30,000 in the country.

They also said the gains of the minimum wage has been eroded by the increasing price of food and commodities, hike in petroleum price and electricity tariff.

This formed part of their contributions while answering questions from journalists in Ado Ekiti on Saturday.

Comrade Sola Adigun, Chairman of Trade Union Congress urged the state government to think outside the box, encourage workers to participate in agriculture and ensure the payment of outstanding salaries.

The Chairman of Nigeria Labour Congress in Ekiti State, Comrade Kolapo Olatunde, charged the federal and state governments to collaborate, for the rejuvenation of Nigeria’s ailing economy.
