All is now set for the Ijaw National Congress executive elections on Friday, April 30, 2021, as the electoral committee saddled with the responsibility of handling the exercise says it has concluded the screening of candidates vying for the various elective positions.

Chairman of the electoral committee, Professor Dagogo Fubara told journalists in Yenagoa that the committee has the next 48hours to entertain petitions from aggrieved aspirants.

He assured that the electoral committee is committed to conducting a free, fair and credible exercise.

The electoral committee for the Ijaw National Congress which was inaugurated last month by the Conference of Ijaw Traditional Rulers and Elders also has as it’s Secretary, the Vice Chancellor of the Niger Delta University, Professor, Samuel Edoumiekumor.

Meanwhile, the assignment of the committee is being threatened with a suit by a lawyer who is also calling for the cancellation of the INC election.

The lawyer, Osom Mak-bere who is vying for the position of Legal Adviser of the Apex Pan-Ijaw body claimed he was “unexplainably and unjustifiably disqualified”.
