Obaseki Raises Alarm Over Corruption In Assets’ Valuation Jobs, Tasks Surveyors

LAGOS – Edo State Governor Godwin Obaseki has raised an alarm over allegations of sharp practices in assets acquisition and compensation jobs in the country, urging the Nigerian Institution of Estate Surveyors and Valuers (NIESV) to stem the tide to prevent capital flight from the government’s coffer.

Obaseki made the appeal at the weekend in Government House, Benin City, Edo state capital, while receiving the national body of NIESV, led by its 24th president, Chief Emma Wike.

The governor, who lamented enormous corruption practices in land compensation deals across the country and in Edo in particular, however, noted that, other professional bodies within the real estate industry were part of the anomaly.

But expressing confidence in the capacity and training of registered estate surveyors and valuers, the governor urged them to extensively examine the act of corruption and arbitrariness in land compensation deals.
