Bauchi State, revokes Kirfi General Hospital expansion project, contractor for prosecution

The Bauchi State Government, has revoked the rehabilitation and expansion project of Kirfi General Hospital, awarded by the previous government.

This followed an inspection visit, paid by Governor Bala Mohammed to the project site, in Kirfi Local Government Area of Bauchi State, over what the governor described as the non-chalant attitude by the contractor.

Speaking after inspecting the project, the Bauchi State Commissioner For Health, Dr Aliyu Maigoro, who represented his governor, explained that the contract revocation for the rehabilitation and expansion of the Kirfi General Hospital followed the failure of the contractor to resume work, despite the collection of the remobilization fee from the government.

Governor Mohammed said that government would also prosecute the contractor, to retrieve the money received without rendering the service, in order to serve as deterrent to others, with the warning that his administration would not tolerate any breach of contractual agreement.

He has therefore directed the state ministry of health, to re-award the contract to a competent company.
