Labour Party lashes FG over growing insecurity

One of Nigeria’s leading opposition political parties, the Labour Party has expressed worry that the All Progressives Congress, (APC) led Federal Government, has continued to allow poverty and ethnicity, fuel insecurity in the country.

Briefing journalists in Abuja, in commemoration of this year’s International Workers’ Day, the National Chairman of the party, Julius Abure, took a swipe at the government for its seeming inability to protect its citizens.

Abure lamented the rising spate of killings and abductions across the country, while the government looked on helplessly.

The party said, it is particularly troubled, that the events in Nigeria, leading to this year’s celebration of May Day, are still being dominated by insecurity; stressing that the inability of government to reduce poverty and ethnicity, has contributed strongly, to the growing spate of insecurity in the country.

The party, however, advised the government to employ innovative ideas against the insurgents.

The party also called on Nigerian workers to be more vigilant, and vote credible leaders in the next elections.
