UniJos Closed over security threats

The Management of the University of Jos, North Central Nigeria, has directed that all hostels in the institution be immediately closed.

This followed an emergency meeting the management held with the University’s Dean of Students Affairs, Chief Security Officer, President, Students Union Government (SUG), Speaker of Parliament and External Security Agencies on Friday, April 30th, 2021.

In a memo signed by the Deputy Registrar, Information and Publications of the institution, Abdullahi Abdullahi, the meeting deliberated on a security report, regarding threat to the university staff, students and properties.

The statement added that, it is in the interest of the safety of students, until all security measures have been perfected, to protect the campuses, as well as the hostels.

While all examinations are to continue unhindered, members of the university community are advised to strictly comply with the directive.

Recall, that gunmen on Wednesday, abducted 2 students of the Calvary International Ministry, also known as CAPRO, in Barkin Ladi Local Government Area of the state, some few kilometers from the Yakubu Gowan International Airport Haipang.
